Do you like camels? Well this is the experience of a lifetime for you!
This experience is made up of a combination of many of the features of the Andean Experience (see Andean Experience) as well as an exciting encounter with some of our camels.
Shortly after your arrival you will be escorted to our themed tenting area where you will be offered a welcoming drink of either traditional mint tea or tea/coffee/soft drink. You will be told interesting facts about all of the members of the camel family - this will include camels, llamas, alpacas, guanacos etc.
This talk will cover their origins and how the various camel family members have evolved right through to modern day distribution in the various parts of the world including Great Britain. You will have the opportunity to learn about the different types of fleeces and their uses, take part in a fleece identification test and then have a go at hand spinning some fleece into wool.
There will be a close up/hands on session with some alpacas after which you can visit the paddocks to choose the llama that you would like to take for a walk round the farm paths (please note that llamas are just walked not ridden). It is not compulsory but if you like, either for the duration of or after your llama walk you can be dressed up in traditional Andean costume and be photographed with your llama.
At this point your experience will move on from similarities to the Andean Experience and on to the camel theme. You will be invited to meet some of the camels in their living quarters and be involved in a feeding session with them – a truly awesome experience!
There will be close encounters with both Dromedary and Bactrian camels and this will be followed by a talk enabling you to learn lots of things about camels. Depending on your interest this can include subjects such as their varied uses throughout the world, their history and their body make up. There will then be an opportunity to sit on a camel for a souvenir photograph (costume provided if you require it) and the chance to go for a short ride on the camel. The camel ride is not compulsory. After this you will be offered a choice of either a traditional Moroccan/Arabian meal or a picnic style buffet served in either our themed tent or in our coffee shop, depending on the weather conditions. After your experience you are free to wander round the park for as long as you like (the park closes at 5pm).
This experience is totally unique in East Anglia and includes various members of the camel family to make a very informative and fun occasion. The experience lasts approx 3.5 hours and is £60.00 per person (minimum of 2 people).
